CodeON CodeON (Coding in Our Neighborhood)
is a free coding and tech lab program fueled by Charleston Women in Tech that provides access to computers, wifi and computer science skills to kids in their own communities.
Sessions are lead by volunteer mentors from Charleston area tech companies in neighborhood community centers for students who lack access to these vital resources.
CodeON brings hands-on computer science education directly to kids by meeting them where they are — in their own neighborhoods. By partnering with local community centers, we connect students with caring mentors who guide them through fun, engaging lessons in coding, problem-solving, and creative technology. No buses, no barriers — just access, encouragement, and opportunity.
*
Using the free and expansive curriculum from code.org students can jump in wherever they like, and once they have an account, can sign into their projects from any computer - anywhere - anytime!
*
Mentors will share their experience about their journey in technology: how they discovered it was a career with potential and opportunity for them.
*
Students will be given support in whatever tech career trajectory they decide to follow, to provide professional guidance for secondary education, college, internships, and career guidance as we can!
